The City of Austin Transportation Department has placed on the "A list" a gap proposal submitted by SN to acquire easements for MetroRapid stations at certain locations that need additional depth from the street for a shelter.

 

The project is intended to serve as a first step towards shaping true transit plazas at key bus-rapid transit stations along the Burnet and Lamar corridors. 

 

The photo below shows how even a modest amount of additional space could vastly improve the quality of the station environment at Burnet and 2222.  A similar improvement could be had at Burnet and North Loop.
