McCallum Planting

51 Trees Planted Oct 13, Nov 10

Sustainable Neighborhoods and numerous other groups planted another 20 trees on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at McCallum High School and on North Lamar Blvd.  Then, on November 10, volunteers planted another 31 trees on Burnet Rd between Anderson and 183.

Over 60 people turned out for the October planting, with participating organizations including UT Women in Medicine, McCallum Key Club and Honor Society, LBJ Cares, Boy Scout Troop 49, and area neighbors.  Sponsors included Violet Crown Community Works, Awesome Foundation, Songbird Nursery, CraigO's Pizza (Balcones at 2222), and donors from throughout the North Austin community.

Burnet Rd Animal Hospital and Shu Shu's deserve special praise for helping to water the Burnet Rd trees.  With another drought underway, their help is crucial.

The trees will serve our community for generations.  Here is an oak planted on Burnet Rd in 1927.
